Kreigsmarine POW grouping.

Soldbuch is in rough condtion and reflects a great deal of handling. It has been de-nazified as one would expect and houses his release papers. The book itself is holding together aside from the first 3 pages and cover with has come loose. Soldbuch show a interesting career and his EK2 award.

Trade insignia is worn and obiously coveted. It comes with a rank attached and a minesweeper sub chaser mini that has been attached for an extended period of time.

Photo is of our POW wearing a similar trade insignia and also showing his Ek2 ribbon. Also included is a photocopy of a original photo and provenance from the grandson.

Release papers/ certificate of discharge and medical certificate include multiple stamps and dates with numerous signatures. Discharged 21-Feb-48

Iron Cross PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Die struck, three piece, iron and nickel/silver plated alloy construction Pattée style cross with a single piece iron core and a two piece alloy frame. The obverse of the award features an embossed, central, canted swastika with the re-institution date, "1939", to the bottom arm. The reverse bottom arm has the embossed original institution date, "1813". The swastika is in nice high relief while the dates are somewhat lower. Small spots of moderate to heavy surface spotting. The nickel/silver plated alloy frame shows moderate age tarnish. The arms of the cross feature pronounced flared tips. The medal loop and ribbon suspension ring are both intact. The cross has no visible manufactures markings. The cross comes complete with a roughly, 1 3/16" wide, 4 1/2" long, piece of original ribbed rayon ribbon inserted through the suspension ring.
